The initiative was announced during a high-level industry symposium on technological innovation and the development of China’s printing industry, organized by the China Academy of Printing Technology (CAPT) in Beijing on September 21, 2026.
The event brought together representatives from government authorities, printing industry associations, research institutions, universities, and leading printing equipment manufacturers to discuss the future of digital transformation, intelligent manufacturing, equipment connectivity, and industry standardization.

Advancing Equipment Connectivity Through the P1/PONE Standards System

One of the key developments announced at the event was the introduction of the P1/PONE Printing and Packaging Equipment Data Interoperability Standards System.

Presented by Peng Ming, Vice General Manager of CAPT, the initiative aims to establish a standardized framework for data exchange between printing and packaging equipment.

Based on the technical specification for data integration and interoperability of intelligent printing equipment, the system uses an adapter-based approach to enable standardized equipment data output.

Its objective is to overcome data silos between different machines and systems, providing a foundation for more connected and intelligent printing production environments.

For printing companies operating equipment from multiple manufacturers, standardized data communication is an important step toward improving production visibility, equipment integration, and digital workflow management.

JMD Among the First Companies to Join the Initiative

During the symposium, CAPT held an official signing ceremony for the P1/PONE standards initiative.

Shenzhen JMD Technology Corporation Limited, together with other participating equipment manufacturers, including Beiren Intelligent Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., signed a cooperation agreement with CAPT as part of the first group of companies involved in the project.

The cooperation will support the development and implementation of standardized equipment data communication across the printing and packaging industry.

According to the project announcement, the next stage will involve practical verification of the P1/PONE system at Tangshan Runfeng, covering equipment connectivity and data interoperability in real production environments.

Supporting the Digital Transformation of Printing Production

As printing companies increasingly adopt automation and digital production technologies, equipment connectivity is becoming an essential part of modern manufacturing.

Printing production often involves multiple processes and equipment systems, including printing, folding, cutting, gathering, binding, and finishing.

Enabling these systems to exchange standardized production data can help manufacturers improve workflow coordination, production monitoring, and overall operational efficiency.

The P1/PONE initiative aims to address these challenges by establishing a common technical framework for equipment data interoperability.

For JMD, participation in the initiative represents an opportunity to contribute its expertise in automated post-press equipment and intelligent book production to the development of industry-wide connectivity standards.

Industry Collaboration Driving Innovation

The symposium also highlighted several other developments in printing technology and standardization.

These included the advancement of the C9 Printing and Packaging Quality Control and Evaluation System, the introduction of a new color evaluation system for sheetfed offset printing inks, and discussions on intelligent factory development and industrial standardization.

Industry experts emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between equipment manufacturers, research institutions, and printing companies to accelerate technological innovation and support the transition toward more intelligent and sustainable production.

The event also reflected CAPT’s broader efforts to promote technological innovation, industry standards, and digital transformation across China’s printing industry.

JMD’s Continued Commitment to Intelligent Post-Press Manufacturing

With more than 30 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of post-press equipment, JMD continues to focus on automation, production efficiency, and intelligent book manufacturing.

The company’s participation in the P1/PONE standards initiative complements its ongoing involvement in industry standardization, including the development of technical standards for Perfect Binding Lines and related equipment.

By contributing to industry cooperation on equipment connectivity and data interoperability, JMD aims to support the continued development of intelligent post-press production and more integrated printing workflows.

As printing moves toward increasingly connected and automated manufacturing, standardized equipment communication will play an important role in building more efficient and flexible production systems.

JMD looks forward to contributing to this development alongside industry partners.
