To further identify outstanding industry role models, promote the spirit of craftsmanship, enhance quality and efficiency across the printing industry, and strengthen collaboration and knowledge sharing across regions, the Beijing Printing Association hosted the first-stage “JMD Cup” Evaluation and Exchange Event in Weihai, Shandong Province, on June 26–27.
The Shandong Printing Association organized the event with strong support from the Weihai Printing & Packaging Association.
The event focused on selecting Outstanding Production Lines, Outstanding Lead Operators, and Outstanding Enterprises, bringing together representatives from the printing associations of nine northern provinces and municipalities. Together, they created a professional platform for recognizing excellence and promoting the high-quality development of China’s printing industry.

Mr. Zhang Yi, Chairman of the Beijing Printing Association, and Mr. Wang Changchun, Executive Chairman of the Shandong Printing Association, provided overall guidance for the event. Mr. Li Baozhong, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Shandong Printing Association, together with association leaders and experts from the nine provinces and municipalities, participated in the evaluation process. Through close cooperation among all parties, the event was carried out in a standardized, orderly, and professional manner, ensuring a high standard of evaluation.

The evaluation strictly adhered to the principles of fairness, impartiality, and transparency. A cross-regional evaluation panel, consisting of representatives from the printing associations of the nine provinces and municipalities together with industry technical experts, was established for the assessment.
Focusing on the printing industry’s development toward intelligence, sustainability, and high-quality manufacturing, the panel conducted comprehensive and professional evaluations covering the effectiveness of intelligent equipment applications, the practical skills of front-line craftsmen, and the overall operational and development capabilities of participating enterprises, selecting the industry’s most outstanding benchmarks.
The event highlighted several key themes, including the widespread adoption of domestically developed post-press equipment, the cultivation of highly skilled professionals, and the exemplary role of outstanding printing enterprises. It fully demonstrated both the technological advantages of China’s intelligent post-press equipment and the craftsmanship of front-line printing professionals, while providing a high-level platform for mutual learning, resource sharing, and collaborative development among the printing industries of the nine provinces and municipalities.

The successful completion of the Weihai stage of the evaluation resulted in the selection of a number of advanced industry models that are both replicable and widely applicable. It further demonstrated the vital role of China’s domestically developed post-press equipment in supporting the transformation and upgrading of the printing industry, while also providing valuable practical experience for strengthening cross-regional cooperation and promoting coordinated development across the industry.
The event will continue to encourage the wider adoption of domestically developed intelligent equipment, strengthen the foundation for cultivating highly skilled professionals, and promote the high-quality and self-reliant development of the entire printing industry value chain.
Following the evaluation, the organizing committee also made overall arrangements for the second-stage on-site competition and award ceremony (draft proposal). The second-stage event is tentatively scheduled to be held in Tai’an this September.
