JMD-Led Industry Standard for Perfect Binding Line Maintenance Passes Review and Remains Valid

The group standard Occupational Evaluation Specification for Perfect Binding Line Equipment Maintenance Technicians (T/PEIAC 007-2021), led by JMD, has successfully passed its latest industry review and will remain in effect.

The review was organized by the Printing and Printing Equipment Industries Association of China (PEIAC) as part of its initiative to ensure that existing group standards remain aligned with current industry and technological developments.

Following a comprehensive technical evaluation, industry experts concluded that the standard remains scientifically sound, relevant to current industry requirements, and effective in practical application.

Establishing Professional Standards for Perfect Binding Line Maintenance

Originally released on March 26, 2021, the standard was developed under the leadership of JMD in cooperation with PEIAC, Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, and the Machinery Industry Occupational Skill Appraisal and Guidance Center.

The standard establishes a structured framework for the professional development and evaluation of technicians responsible for maintaining Perfect Binding Lines.

It defines requirements covering professional skills, training and evaluation, competency levels, qualification criteria, theoretical knowledge, and practical skills assessments. By establishing clearly defined competency levels, the standard provides a common reference for vocational institutions and printing companies to train and evaluate technical personnel.

At the time of its introduction, it filled a gap in China’s printing industry by establishing a dedicated skills evaluation standard for professionals maintaining Perfect Binding Line equipment.

Proven Through Industry Application

Since its introduction, the standard has been applied not only to professional training and skills evaluation, but also as a technical reference for major printing industry skills competitions and evaluation events.

During the latest review, experts assessed the standard across five key areas: its coordination with existing regulations and standards, applicability to current industry and technology, timeliness of referenced documents, practicality and verifiability of technical requirements, and overall implementation effectiveness.

The conclusion was clear: T/PEIAC 007-2021 remains relevant and effective and will continue to provide guidance for professional training and occupational skills evaluation in the printing industry.

Beyond Equipment: Building Technical Expertise for the Industry

As the lead drafting organization, JMD’s involvement in the standard reflects more than its experience in manufacturing Perfect Binding Lines. It also demonstrates the company’s long-term focus on technical training, equipment maintenance, and professional skills development.

JMD plans to continue supporting the implementation of the standard through dedicated Perfect Binding Line maintenance training and technical evaluations for intermediate- and advanced-level technicians.

By combining equipment development with technical training and industry standardization, JMD continues to contribute to the professional development of post-press manufacturing and to the long-term reliability of Perfect Binding Line operations.
